This is so completely embarrassing I just had to share. Kudos to the great state of South Carolina and their amazing educational system for giving birth to this amazingly awful answer to a question that one really can't get wrong. I just feel bad for this child. As stated in Billy Madison, we are all now less intelligent for hearing this answer.

What I thought was great is that she took the question full circle and turned it from Americans not knowing where the US is on a map into South Africans and Iraqis also not knowing their world geography.
ReplyDeleteThe REAL question is: What is the percentage of people in OTHER countries who can't pick out their own homeland on a map, and how do we fare against that? Something tells me it might top our 5%.

yes, she was totally pre-programmed to speak about the developing world/S.Af/Iraq and was going there no matter what the question. i sent my caveman-ish and sarcastic buddy this clip and he had the best email reply ever.. "everyone seems to be going on about this video, but i don't get the big commotion, I thought she looked great." which is exactly the response to her has been her whole life and is why she is now a dumb, dumb, girl...
